Jack
Allen has
spent most of the last decade developing TV movies and mini-series.
He graduated with honors from the USC Film School with a
B.A. degree in film production.
In
1985, he joined BRIGGLE, HENNESSY, CARROTHERS, a feature,
television, and theatrical production company, as Director
of Development.
There
he developed "THE ALAMO: 13 DAYS TO GLORY," a 3-hour NBC
mini-series starring Alec Baldwin, James Arness and Raul
Julia. Also, the off-Broadway musical revue, "GROUCHO: A
LIFE IN REVUE" at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
He
joined Fries Entertainment in 1987 as Director of Development
under the Stockton Briggle Productions banner. He co-wrote
and produced the Emmy-nominated CBS movie "BRIDGE TO SILENCE"
starring Marlee Matlin and Lee Remick for which he received
the Media Access Award.
In 1991, Mr. Allen joined Papazian-Hirsch Entertainment
as Director of Development, Movies & Mini-series where
he also evaluated scripts for Arnold Kopelson's first-look
TV deal. He co-produced the highly-rated ABC movie "THE
TEXAS CHEERLEADER STORY" starring Lesley Ann Warren. In
1992, he joined the faculty at the USC Film School where
he started the first class for graduate students in longform
television writing.
In 1995, Mr. Allen joined Team Entertainment Group where
he served as Director of Drama Programming, developing an
ABC movie starring Alyssa Milano ("FACES OF FEAR") and one
at NBC starring Kellie Martin ("HER HIDDEN TRUTH"). He also
taught a series of screenwriting workshops across the country,
helping first-time writers "get their foot in the door"
in Hollywood. In 1999 he joined Carsey-Werner on the ABC
sit-com "GRACE UNDER FIRE" as creative liaison to Brett
Butler.
In 1999 he joined Carsey-Werner on the ABC sit-com "GRACE

2000 served as Director of Development at Robert Greenwald
Productions.
Most recently Mr. Allen developed a book entitled Midnight
Carol by Patricia K. Davis about how Charles Dickens
came to write A
Christmas Carolwhich has been sold to producer Arne
Glimcher ("Mambo
Kings") with producers Ken Atchity and Chi-Li Wong.
Mr. Allen has also developed with AEI an action/thriller
story about Navy Seals in the vein of "A
Few Good Men" which was sold to Penguin/Putnam as a
three-book deal by writer Michael Murray.
