He has written widely for both print and broadcast media including nine celebrity biographies (Oprah, Bette, Rosie, Liza, Judds, Barry Diller, Jeff Gordon, Rick Karn and Stan Lee) plus 11 other non- fiction works. In addition, he has written true crime works including Star Stalkers about those who haunt and often murder celebrities; Lethal Ladies about women who murder for love; and, Family Money about rich heirs driven to murder, suicide, drugs, incest and infidelity.

One of his recent books was with Richard Karn of the hit TV show, Home Improvement. Released in May, 1999, HOUSE BROKEN: How I Remodeled My Home For Just Under Three Times The Original Bid and was named "Book of the Week" by People Magazine. Other Mair biographies were, Natural Born Winner, the story of Jeff Gordon, NASCAR race champion (1998) and The Judds about Naomi, Wynonna and Ashley (1998). He finished work in 2002 on the memoirs of the most creative comic book writer in the world, Stan Lee, the creator of Spiderman, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four and scores of other superheroes.

While at KNX-CBS for ten years (1966-1976), he became the most prolific radio documentary and editorial writer in the network's history and received 32 writing awards including the prestigious Columbia-Columbia University Silver Scroll for the best radio writing in America.

His first celebrity biography was Oprah in 1995 and, more recently, his Rosie O'Donnell: Her True Story, was released in 1997. Glamour Magazine said, "This bio is as wholesome as O'Donnell's public persona. Also, out in 1997 was his biography of legendary movie mogul, The Barry Diller Story, from John Wiley & Sons.

Mair has been a CBS broadcaster; L.A. TIMES nationally syndicated columnist; chief public relations counsel to Home Box Office; chief press officer to Speaker of Congress; and, radio talk-show host on top-rated WPGC in Washington, D.C.

His most recent published book (2004-05) is:Man With A Purpose :The life story of the most admired, successful Protestant pastor in America, Rev. Rick Warren. Published by Berkley.
